This will test the communication potential of these forums. You can join Fred and Laurence if you like. We’ll be discussing songs in progress.

I’ll be making a video for “You Didn’t Want Me When I Wanted you” tonight.

I still have Alone in the Rain, Come On Baby, and Do You

Would you be interested in doing some other (not AYB) songs?

      Hi Fred,
It looks like this is working. (But it means that I have to actively log into the SMS community to see if I have a message, rather than having the message go into my email box, which I check regularly. So the messaging may be delayed by that fact.)
Sure, I’d be interested in singing other songs, but I’d like to finish the AYB project first. (By the way, did you hear from anyone who located other AYB songs from my “want list”?) I still have quite a few good AYB songs to send you (and a number that I don’t think are very good, or are no longer culturally acceptable, which I probably won’t send).
      Talk to you soon!
      Laurence

Laurence, we will continue on the AYB list. If James has made a MIDI in the past, you can sing those right away. Otherwise I can only get 5 or 6 done a week. Maybe the community will turn up more accompaniment makers.

In the meantime you might like a song like Goodbye Alexander from WWI which I have a MIDI for.

      Fred,
I tried to connect on my iPad, but it asked for a password to reply on this site, and I don’t remember making one. So I’m on the computer.
I haven’t seen any new AYB MIDIs from James recently. Do I need to send the songs to him, or are you the best conduit?
I’ll take a look at the Alexander song…
Thanks for all your work on this project! Laurence

      Fred,
I just looked at “Goodbye Alexander, Goodbye Honey Boy” and it’s a great song. Creamer & Layton were a wonderful African American Vaudeville team. But I don’t think I’ll try to sing it. First it’s sung by a woman, and second it uses racial dialect, which I have some trouble with. I think you do a fine job with both respects, since you sing the songs “straight”. But I tend to emote more and I fear I’d face a critical audience. Hope you get what I’m saying. best, Laurence

Fred, I just noticed a song on SMS that doesn’t seem to have been sung yet, and which I’d like to sing: “I Used to Call Her Baby”, by Howard Johnson and Cliff Hess, who collaborated with Milton on several songs. Has this song been spoken for yet? Thanks. Laurence

Laurence, “I used to call her baby” would be a good one for you. Go for it!

Yeah, let me send the songs to James. He is doing two a day for us Monday to Friday.
