Lyrics

Our maid Hannah plays piano
In a funny kind o’ way
When she shakes a nifty dust rag
On our baby grand Steinway
As a maid she’s terrible
Won’t even wash the dishes
She would be unbearable
But I will tell you why

Chorus
Oh, she can tease the ivories
And coax the grandest airs
She fills our house with melodies
That drive away our cares
She can tickle tunes all day long
Never hits a note that is wrong
She sharps the C’s and E’s and G’s
And flats the B’s and D’s
And she can charm the sweetest harmonies
With perfect ease
Every time she makes up her mind
By dusting off the keys

Oh Gee! how she can jazz a rag
When she gets on a tuney jag
Then she plays a crooney drag
I’ll say
You should hear her manipulate
You would say she can syncopate
She’s good! I know that you will state
“I’ll stay and hear her play!”
