I love looking up old songs and finding performances of them, as well as making performances of them!
I have been sequencing MIDI since 2000 and have created over 16,500 files. I will have a crack at any sheet music sent to me.
I have a lifelong love of music: classical, opera, jazz — but especially popular music of the early 20th century. I was close to my late uncle (Milton Ager), who was a songwriter and publisher of popular music, and I have become the family archivist and a principal aficionado of his songs. I really appreciate and enjoy what Fred has created on his sheet music website to resurrect old popular music. I am in awe of what James has done to create wonderful MIDI files of these countless songs. I am also glad to be able to join Fred and Vancha as a song singer on the website!
My connection to sheet music is part of my broader interests in history and the public domain. I’ve loved public domain cartoons and movies since I was a kid (though I didn’t realize it at the time). As my familiarity with copyright law/the public domain grew, I started to look into public domain songs, which led me to sheet music.
Mainly because I’m into musical theatre, and especially old musical theatre, and because of that some shows only surive through sheet music, and I think sheet music singer is a great way to let new audiences hear them.
